Georgia to complete reconstruction of road leading to Armenian border by 2030

Georgia plans to complete the construction and reconstruction of the road section leading to the Armenian border by 2030. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.

This refers to the Algeti-Sadakhlo road section, which reaches one of the active checkpoints on the Armenian-Georgian border, Sadakhlo-Bagratashen. It is also planned to complete the Rustavi-Red Bridge section toward Azerbaijan and build the Batumi-Sarpi road leading to the Turkish border.

Kobakhidze noted that freight transport passing through Georgia is of vital importance for the country’s economic development, taking into account free trade agreements with China, Turkey, and the European Union. Within this framework, projects for the construction of the East-West Highway and the “North-South” road corridor leading to Russia are also being implemented.

It is noted that major investments are being made toward the development of transport infrastructure. More than 22 million dollars are planned to be spent on the modernization of the road leading to the Armenian border.
