Bishops’ Council to be held: what new details has the Mother See revealed?

The Bishops’ Council will take place. The information was provided by Fr. Yesayi Artenyan, Director of the Information System of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. According to him, the venue for the meeting has not changed.

Earlier, the representative of the Mother See noted that discussions regarding the organization of the council were ongoing.

The Bishops’ Council is scheduled to be held from February 16–19 in St. Pölten, Austria, at the invitation of Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.

It should be recalled that at the end of January, the Investigative Committee reported on a criminal proceeding related to the Armenian Apostolic Church within the framework of the case of Bishop Gevorg Saroyan, the former primate of the Masyatsotn Diocese, who has been defrocked. A number of high-ranking clergymen were also summoned for questioning in the case, and a ban on leaving the country was chosen as a preventive measure against them.
