National Assembly adopts amendments improving the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
The National Assembly has passed, in the second reading, a package of bills on making amendments to the laws “On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” and “On the Assessment of a Person’s Functionality.”
The new regulations are aimed at improving the process of providing assistive devices and clarifying the delivery of accessible services for persons with disabilities.
As a result of the changes, non-governmental organizations may also be involved in the process of providing or repairing assistive devices in cooperation with the state.
The concept of “supported independent living center” is also clarified, and unified rules are established.
The process of providing personal assistant services becomes tripartite through a single contract.
Persons who have already undergone a functionality assessment will not be subject to re-assessment; changes will be implemented only within the Individual Service Plan.
