Pashinyan and Aliyev held informal meeting in Washington

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, had an informal contact with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in Washington. The meeting was also attended by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is participating in the inaugural session of the Peace Council in Washington. It was established on January 16, 2026, at the initiative of US President Donald Trump, with the aim of settling the situation in the Gaza Strip. On January 22, Trump signed the Charter of the Peace Council in Switzerland. Pashinyan and Aliyev also participated in that meeting.

Pashinyan last visited the USA in August 2025, when the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a 7-point joint declaration in Washington within the framework of the “Trump Road” (TRIPP) project. The project aims to create a strategic transit route through Syunik and provide Azerbaijan with commercial access to Nakhichevan.

During that period, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, signed the “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
