European Shooting Championship kicks off in Yerevan

The European Shooting Championship has officially launched at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex in Yerevan. More than 350 athletes from 40 countries are participating in the tournament. Armenia is represented by 26 shooters.

The opening ceremony began with a light show showcasing the sport of shooting. This was followed by a parade of the flags of the participating countries. The flag bearers were not athletes. The flag of Armenia entered the sports and concert complex last as the host country and was met with a thunderous response from the audience.

Turkey will also participate in the championship held in Yerevan. Azerbaijan has not submitted an application for participation. Russia and Belarus will compete under a neutral flag.

The European Shooting Championship matches will start on March 1 and conclude on March 5. It is noted that athletes will use February 28 for training.

The opening of the championship was declared by Alexander Ratner, President of the European Shooting Confederation (ESC). The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Armenia, high-ranking officials, delegations of participating countries, athletes, coaches, and sports fans.
