Has Iran’s supreme leader passed away? what is known so far

Several Israeli media outlets, including Channel 9, citing their intelligence sources, have reported that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been killed. According to these publications, his body was discovered under the rubble of his residence in Tehran.

The information has not been officially confirmed. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Ayatollah is in a safe location.

In a televised address, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted that there are “many signs” indicating Khamenei is no longer alive. He stated that the target of the strikes was the specific location where the Iranian leader was situated. He further mentioned that he had seen Ali Khamenei’s body. Additionally, the Israeli Ambassador to the US confirmed Khamenei’s death.

Netanyahu also addressed the Iranian people, stating that the strikes would help them “break free from dictatorship” and urged them to take to the streets to “finish what has been started.” He added that strikes against Iran would continue for as long as necessary.

Meanwhile, videos are circulating on the internet showing people in Iran reportedly celebrating Khamenei’s death.

However, Meysam Mozaffar, a member of the Tehran City Council, reported that the son-in-law and daughter-in-law of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei have died. Several other Iranian media outlets are also citing Mozaffar, though state-run media has not reported such news. According to Iranian sources, Khamenei is in the operational headquarters and is directing military operations.
