Government to provide compensation for citizens who purchased new tickets due to cancelled flights in the Middle East
The Government will provide compensation to citizens who were forced to purchase new tickets for their return to Armenia due to the cancellation of their flights resulting from the situation in the Middle East. This was announced by RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on his Facebook page.
“The RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an initiative under which the RA Government will provide compensation of up to 250,000 AMD per person to citizens whose return/transit flights to Armenia were cancelled due to military operations in the Middle East and who purchased new tickets to return to Armenia,” Mirzoyan stated.
If a citizen purchased a ticket at a lower price, the compensation will be provided in the amount of the paid sum. The compensation mechanism and additional details will be defined in the coming days.
On February 28, Israel and the United States launched a large-scale military attack against Iran. On the first day of the attack, Iran’s spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. The military operations encompass the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf. In response, Iran is launching strikes against US bases located in the region’s countries and against Israel. Israel is also striking Lebanon.
Due to the conflict, a number of RA citizens are unable to return to Armenia.
