Head of ENA branch and several officials accused of receiving bribes
The head of the electrical network of one of the branches of the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) and several other officials of the same branch are accused of receiving bribes and abusing official powers, according to the RA Anti-Corruption Committee.
According to the Committee, between 2006 and 2025, the head of the electrical network, acting as part of a group and utilizing the influence derived from his powers, caused approximately 1.3 million AMD in damages to the company and received bribes for illegal inaction.
The investigation revealed that in 2024, by prior agreement with employees of the same branch and a citizen, he organized the illegal electricity supply to a building belonging to the latter. Specifically, an external metering device brought by the citizen from Russia was installed on a support pole near the building and illegally connected to a three-phase current voltage.
Furthermore, in exchange for bribes, the volume of electricity consumed by the said citizen was not entered into the computer database.
The ENA official has been charged under Article 277, Part 2, Clause 3 (Abuse of official powers or the influence derived from them in the private sector) and Article 272, Part 2, Clause 3 (Receiving a bribe in the private sector) of the RA Criminal Code. Charges were also brought against his deputy, two other ENA officials, and the citizen who gave the bribe.
The preliminary investigation has been concluded, and the case materials, along with the indictment, have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court.
