The reconstruction of St. Mariam Astvatsatsin Church is taking place in Nerkin Bazmaberd
Renovation work is underway on the partially constructed St. Mariam Astvatsatsin Church in the Aragatsotn region. This announcement was made by the Talin municipality. The church was built in 1990 by Henzel Yeghiazaryan.
The construction of the church was halted during the years of the Artsakh war and remained that way for about 35 years. Now, we have found a benefactor, and we can finalize the church’s appearance, said Manuk Hazroyan, the administrative head of Nerkin Bazmaberd, in an interview with us.
The village mayor mentioned that they had also appealed to the patriarchate for support in constructing the church. However, due to a lack of funds, the church has remained partially built.
Despite its condition, the church has become a pilgrimage site for the residents.
In 2020, the residents of the village made a donation to the church. The surrounding area of the church has been improved. In 2024, the main reconstruction works have begun under the sponsorship of Efrin Bagh.
