Triple Olympic champion Lasha Talakhadze will become a member of the Georgian Parliament

The world’s strongest weightlifter, Georgian Lasha Talakhadze, will miss the upcoming World Championships and will soon become a member of the Georgian Parliament.

The International Weightlifting Federation notes that Lasha will become a member of the Georgian Parliament before the start of the World Championships in Bahrain in December.

Since 2015, Talakhadze has won only gold medals in every competition he participated in. He is one of the 5 athletes who have won three Olympic gold medals. He could become the only athlete with 4 Olympic gold medals at the 2028 Olympics.

All the records in the super heavyweight category belong to the Georgian. He has set a result of 225 kg in the snatch and 267 kg in the clean and jerk. He is also a world record holder in the total with a result of 492 kg.

Talakhadze is also a seven-time gold medalist in both the World and European Championships.
