The strongest members of Armenia’s wrestling team have been excluded from the upcoming World Championship for soldiers in Yerevan
The strongest Armenian wrestlers, who were contenders for the championship at the World Championship for soldiers, will not participate. This was shared on Facebook by Arsen Harutyunyan, a two-time world champion and four-time European champion, who had also planned to compete in the tournament.
The wrestlers were not informed of the reasons for their exclusion. They were only notified days before the competition.
Back in August, Armenian wrestlers were drafted for military service. Among those who enlisted were Olympic bronze medalist Malkhas Amoyan, World Championship bronze medalist and European champion Vazgen Tevanyan, European champion Arman Andreasyan, and other wrestlers.
When discussing the possible champions, it is likely that Arsen was referring to them.
The World Championship for soldiers will take place on November 20 at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex.
