Armenian products have gained high demand at the Shanghai International Expo
Armenia participated in the annual “China International Import Expo” held in Shanghai. It is one of China’s major exhibitions, with a tour radius of 6 km. The expo saw participation from 158 countries, each represented by national and commercial pavilions.
Mariam Manukyan, the president of the Council for Supporting International Business Relations, presented the results of Armenia’s participation in the exhibition at a press conference.
This time, we focused on industrial sectors, small industrial branches, and large-scale industries, such as beverages, alcoholic drinks, winemaking, confectionery, canned goods, and more.
More than 30 companies were represented at the Armenian pavilions. The national pavilion showcased the state and government branches. According to Manukyan, Armenian wine, particularly pomegranate wine, was in high demand at the exhibition. Visitors were able to taste it alongside Armenian dried fruits and confectionery.
The companies represented in the commercial section had the opportunity to export small quantities of their products. These included confectionery manufacturers, alcoholic beverage producers, and winemaking companies.
Memorandums of understanding have been signed with the authorities of three Chinese cities, including Beijing, as well as with provincial and municipal governments. These agreements lay the foundation for the preferential export of Armenian products to the country’s free trade zones. According to Manukyan, this offers an opportunity to provide a more competitive and affordable option for partners, allowing for broader access to Asian markets.
Next year, a visit from Chinese businesspeople to Armenia is planned, which, according to Manukyan, will create a competitive environment for the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The head of the council also announced the launch of the “Armenian-American Business Bridge” program, which can be utilized by entrepreneurs.
