Fires Continue in Tavush and Gegharkunik Provinces; Rescuers Appeal for Residents’ Help

For the fourth consecutive day, fires are raging in various parts of Tavush and Gegharkunik Provinces. Information was disseminated on November 21 that fires had broken out in several spots along the Navur-Ttujaur-Chambarak road section, also known as “Sari Champa” (Mountain Road). The fire spread from Chambarak towards the northwest, reaching the forests of Ayguht village and burning the “Srtni” area (handamas) of Navur.

Another fire has broken out in the forests near the Dilijan tunnel, on the road leading towards Vanadzor. There is also one fire site near Hovk-Yenokavan.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informs Amnews that 296 rescuers, including employees of the Eco-Patrol Service and local residents, are participating in firefighting efforts in the “Kazachi” and “Srtni” areas of Tavush Province.

In “Kazachi,” 234 rescuers and 28 Eco-Patrol Service employees are engaged in fighting the fire, while in “Srtni,” there are 62 rescuers, 40 Eco-Patrol employees, and 53 village residents.

It should be recalled that the fire initially broke out on November 21 in Gegharkunik Province. Residents recorded that the fire had already reached the border zone.
