17 Poles arrested in Armenia for damaging property at Vernissage
At 00:27 on the night of December 12, a call was received by the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Armenia (RA), reporting that Polish fans were engaging in hooliganism and damaging property in the area of the “Vernissage” complex.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs informed Amnews that officers of the Police Guard Service arrested 17 Polish citizens on Khanjyan Street on suspicion of showing disrespectful behavior towards society and committing hooliganism. The compiled documents have been transferred to the investigative division. The situation is under control, and the detainees are under police supervision.
It is recalled that on December 11, in the Conference League match, “Noah” defeated the Polish club “Legia” with a score of 2:1 on home turf and secured their spot in the play-offs.
Despite the ban imposed by UEFA, Polish fans arrived in Armenia and attempted to enter the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium. Before the match, they also tried to acquire tickets in sectors designated for Armenian fans.
The “Legia” ultras are known in Europe for their aggressive behavior. Previously, they had clashes with the police in England (during the match against “Aston Villa”) and the Netherlands.
