More than 7 kg of marijuana discovered in Noyemberyan
More than 7 kilograms of marijuana, smuggled from Iran to Armenia, was discovered in the vehicle of a 29-year-old man. The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
On December 23, law enforcement officers in Noyemberyan detained two residents of Yerevan, aged 29 and 50. According to preliminary data, they had a prior agreement with a foreign citizen and had acquired a large amount of drugs through smuggling, intended for further transport and sale.
During the search of the 29-year-old man’s car, 7 kilograms and 331 grams of marijuana were found, as well as other types of drugs.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the case on charges of illicit drug trafficking and smuggling. Both men were detained and subsequently remanded in custody by a court decision.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
