
In 2024, 958 cases of hit-and-run were registered in Armenia
The statistics on pedestrian accidents in Armenia for 2023 and 2024 show that the number of accidents, as well as the number of victims and people injured, remain at a high level. In response to an inquiry by AMNEWS, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that from January 1 to November 30, 2024, the number of hit-and-runs reached 958. As a result, 944 people sustained various injuries, and 91 people died. This means that 9.5% of those involved in hit-and-run accidents have died.
From January 1 to December 31, 2023, a total of 1,197 pedestrian accidents occurred, resulting in 108 fatalities and 1,158 injuries.
The highest number of pedestrian accidents were recorded in Yerevan (518 cases). And 47 of the fatalities occurring at pedestrian crossings.
The statistics from the regions are also concerning. Kotayk region leads in the number of road accidents, while the least number of incidents were recorded in Vayots Dzor region.
