The father of the 3-year-old boy who went missing in the village of Tsapatagh, Gegharkunik Province, has been arrested.
Within the framework of the criminal case launched over the murder of 3-year-old Tigran Hovhannisyan, his father has been detained.
According to the spokesperson of Armenia’s Investigative Committee, Kima Avdalyan, an external examination of the child’s body revealed injuries to the head and torso. A forensic medical examination has been ordered.
A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against one individual under Article 155, Part 2, Points 3, 5, and 9 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (murder). The suspect has been detained, Avdalyan said.
Preliminary data suggest that the father strangled the boy.
It should be recalled that on October 27, around 6:00 p.m., police received a report that Tigran Hovhannisyan, a resident of Tsapatagh village born in 2022, had gone missing around 4:30 p.m.
Around 500 police officers, rescuers, and volunteers took part in the search. The child’s body was found on November 2, about 60 meters from the sign of the nearby village of Jil, in a field area near Tsapatagh.
