The legacy of Yervand Kochar is at risk
7 artworks by the artist Yervand Kochar, valued at around $500,000, have gone missing from the Kochar Museum. This was reported by the “KOCHAR” Cultural Foundation.
There are also suspicions that the artworks in the museum may have been forged and illegal transactions might have taken place regarding them.
The case is currently under investigation by the Investigative Committee.
The Yervand Kochar Museum was founded in 1984, a few years after his death. The museum showcases works from different phases of Kochar’s career, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, as well as his surrealist and volumetric works.
