“Parajanov Days” are set to be organized in Athens, the capital of Greece

On December 3 and 4, “Parajanov Days” will be organized in Athens, the capital of Greece.

On December 3, two short documentary films will be screened. One directed by Parajanov and the other about him. The screenings will include Ruben Gevorgyants’s “In My World” (1979, 1989) and Sergey Parajanov’s “Hakob Hovnatanyan” (1967), both with English subtitles.

Additionally, an exhibition of the director’s works, including paintings and sketches, will be showcased. Part of the exhibit will be displayed outside Armenia for the first time. The exhibition will remain open for 20 days.

One hundred years ago, on January 9, 1924, a boy named Sarkis (Sergei) Parajanov was born into an Armenian family in Tiflis. He was destined to endure the hardships of a Soviet prison and emerge as one of the greatest filmmakers of the 20th century. This year, on the occasion of his 100th anniversary, numerous commemorative events were organized both in Armenia and abroad.
