The number of historical and cultural reserves in Armenia will increase

By a government decision, the fortress of “Tapi Castle” will be designated as a historical and cultural reserve. It is located in the village of Urtsadzor, within the Vedi community of the Ararat region. The preservation and management of the castle will be overseen by the “Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reserves” SNCO.

As noted in the rationale for the decision, the establishment of reserves will contribute to the development of tourism and increase the number of visitors. Most monuments are not included in tourist routes. And the declaration of the site as a reserve aims to address this issue. Additionally, the creation of the reserve will allow local residents to sell their handmade souvenirs and generate income.

Armenia is home to numerous historical and cultural reserves. Including them are “Zorats Karer Settlement,” “Lori Berd City-Site,” “Amberd Fortress,” “Smbataberd,” “Capital Dvin,” “Artashat Capital,” “Yereruyk,” “Old Khndzoresk,” “Berdkunk Fortress,” and “Noratus Cemetery,” among others.
