Renovation Works at Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex to be Completed by April 2026
The renovation works currently underway at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex will be completed by April 2026. This was announced by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan during a joint committee session of the National Assembly.
According to the Minister, the works being carried out at the memorial are proceeding according to the set schedule and are being supervised by professional teams. Andreasyan emphasized that the manipulations and public concerns are baseless: the works are being implemented in a way that ensures uninterrupted access for visitors.
The restoration of the pillars is not new, even in technological terms; renovation with the same approach was also carried out in 2015. Currently, the renovation of 3 pillars is planned, after which the works for the subsequent phases will be discussed by the scientific-methodological council. Any citizen can be present at these discussions, the Minister stated.
Zhanna Andreasyan reported that she regularly visits the memorial to monitor the construction process on-site. According to her, the entire process is being controlled by specialists implementing scientific-methodological, technical, and author supervision.
The solutions for the renovation of the memorial’s pillars were developed by a group of experts, including project co-author, RA Honored Architect Sashur Kalashyan.
It is worth reminding that the fundamental renovation works of the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex began on October 8, 2024. Approximately 743 million AMD was allocated from the state budget of the Republic of Armenia for the works. The construction is being carried out by “Bidek” LLC, the technical supervision by “Seismshin” LLC, and the author supervision by “Haynakhagits” CJSC.
