A Statue of Charles Aznavour to be Unveiled in Yerevan on His 100th Anniversary

The unveiling ceremony of the statue of Armenia’s national hero, Charles Aznavour, is scheduled for May 22, 2025. This was announced during a procedural meeting of the Yerevan City Hall.

The preparation and installation of the statue will continue until the planned unveiling date. The ceremony will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the legendary chansonnier’s birth.

On march earlier this year, a public competition was held to design the monument to Charles Aznavour. The professional jury reviewed over 60 submissions and more than 100 miniature models before making their selection.

The miniature titled “La Bohème,” created by artist Davit Minasian, received 9 votes, surpassing the other entries. The second-place entry, a sculpture by Armenak Vardanyan, was awarded an honorable monetary prize.

The statue will be placed at France Square in Yerevan. And a replica will also be installed in Paris.
