Destruction of Memorial to Great Patriotic War Victims in Haterk Village, Artsakh
A video shared on the Tik-Tok social platform informs us that Azerbaijanis have destroyed the memorial dedicated to the victims of the Great Patriotic War in the village of Haterk, located in the occupied Martakert district of Artsakh. The Monumentwatch website has also reported on the issue.
The memorial was built in 1965-1966 in the center of the village. From the village of Haterk, 400 fighters participated in the Great Patriotic War, 195 of whom were killed. The names of the fallen villagers were inscribed on the memorial. The monument had also been partially damaged during the First Artsakh War, with bullet marks clearly visible even to the naked eye.
This is not the first memorial dedicated to the Great Patriotic War to be destroyed by Azerbaijan. Since the 2020 war, other monuments have also been destroyed, including the one dedicated to the freedom fighters of Hadrut, the memorial complex in Shushi dedicated to the victims of the Artsakh liberation war and the Great Patriotic War, and three separate monuments in the village of Azokh in Hadrut, dedicated to the victims of the Great Patriotic War, the First Artsakh War, and the Armenian Genocide.
