The controversial statue of Paruyr Sevak will be removed from the schoolyard; The reason is known
The statue dedicated to Paruyr Sevak, which was installed in the Zangakatun community, will be removed from the courtyard of Zangakatun Secondary School. This was reported by the Paruyr Sevak House-Museum.
According to the museum, a public survey has been completed, in which everyone interested had the opportunity to participate, regardless of their place of residence. However, the final decision was made exclusively based on the voting results of the residents of the Zangakatun community.
The voting results showed that 79.9 percent of the community residents were in favor of removing the statue, while 20.1 percent were against it. The corresponding decision was adopted based on this ratio.
In recent days, the statue had become a subject of wide discussion on social networks. Many users expressed dissatisfaction with the artistic solution of the sculpture, noting that it did not reflect the likeness appropriate for Paruyr Sevak’s image and resembled a caricature more. The author of the statue is sculptor Levon Tokmajyan. He was the one who offered to donate the statue to the community.
Additional information regarding the further steps related to the removal of the statue has not yet been published.
