Armenia Eliminates Key Deficiencies from EU Aviation “Blacklist”
Armenia has addressed the main shortcomings that led to its inclusion on the EU aviation “blacklist.” This was reported by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.
In 2020, the European Commission identified 41 deficiencies in Armenian aviation. All Armenian air carriers were found to have shortcomings. Former Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Gnel Sanosyan, stated that the primary issue was a shortage of inspectors and specialists, their salaries were not competitive, leading many to join private airlines or relocate to other countries. This became one of the reasons Armenia was added to the “blacklist.”
Armenia initiated the process of removing itself from the “blacklist” in October 2024. The process officially began on November 13. On December 24, the Armenian side submitted the rectified deficiencies to the commission’s management.
Under EU aviation regulations, Armenian air carriers have been prohibited from entering EU airspace since June 2020.
