In 2025, 314 Tons of Whitefish Fishing Will Be Allowed in Lake Sevan
The government has approved the program proposed by the Ministry of Environment, allowing the industrial fishing of 314 tons of whitefish in Lake Sevan in 2025. The fishing period is set until June 1, 2025, considering the assessment of negative risks associated with fish stock reduction and the sustainable management of aquatic resources.
According to estimates, this decision will generate approximately 20.4 million AMD in additional revenue for the state budget through resource usage fees.
However, no industrial fishing quotas have been set for crucian carp and crayfish in Lake Sevan for 2025.
It is worth noting that whitefish fishing is carried out across the entire lake, at least 500 meters away from the shore. However, the use of nodal, machine-made, or handmade fishing nets made from synthetic nylon or other polyamide fibers is strictly prohibited.
