What is known about the process of importing petroleum products and grain from Azerbaijan to Armenia?

In a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia (RA), Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan refused to elaborate on the process of importing petroleum products from Azerbaijan to Armenia, calling it a commercial secret. According to the Minister, the information conveyed to the public on this matter is limited only to the facts that have already been officially confirmed.

Papoyan noted that he cannot say more, as the process concerns private economic relations. He emphasized that no additional information beyond the statements he has already made will be published.

Earlier, on December 6, during a discussion organized in Doha, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev announced that the issue of exporting oil and petroleum products from Azerbaijan to Armenia was being discussed. On December 8, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia informed that no duties would be levied for the first transit of Azerbaijani petroleum products to Armenia. RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan described Georgia’s decision as a step directed towards the peace process.

At the same time, the Minister also touched upon the topic of grain imports, informing that the import of new batches of grain to Armenia through the territories of Azerbaijan and Georgia will continue. According to him, the second batch is already arriving, and the subsequent ones are en route.

The Minister added that upon the arrival of the batches, he will publish the data regarding their volumes, indicating the measurement in tons.
