Farmers conducting slaughterhouse processing will receive cash payments
To increase slaughterhouse processing, those farmers who carry out livestock slaughter in slaughterhouses will be compensated with cash. There is no specific information regarding the payment amount, as the government has not yet approved the decision. However, it is expected that an average compensation will be implemented. This was announced by Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan during a joint session of the permanent committees of the National Assembly.
The basis for the implementation of the program was the Austrian example, which the ministry became familiar with through experience exchange programs.
25 years ago in Austria, everything was similar to how it is here: there were slaughterhouses that farmers did not utilize. As a result, the state began to financially encourage farmers. Now, there is no longer a need for that in Austria, as there is a well-established awareness of meat safety standards within society, – noted Papoyan.
In 2025, 350 million drams are allocated for slaughterhouses.
