More than 450 Armenian cargo trucks are stuck at the “Upper Lars” checkpoint
Around 450 Armenian cargo trucks are currently parked at the “Upper Lars” checkpoint. This is reported by the Traffic Organization Center of North Ossetia.
It is noted that there are currently about 1,400 trucks at the checkpoint, 446 of which are Armenian. The main reason for the congestion is heavy snowfall on the Gudauri-Kobi section of the Stepantsminda-Lars highway, which has caused the Khashi Pass to be closed to cargo traffic in both directions.
The road remains open for light passenger vehicles. Georgia is constructing a 9-kilometer bypass road in the most dangerous section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway (Gudauri-Kobi).
