During Black Friday, purchases in Armenia amounted to more than 11 billion drams

From November 29 to December 1, Armenia observed Black Friday. Compared to previous years, this year’s purchases significantly exceeded past records.

During the Black Friday period, a total of 11.026 billion drams worth of transactions were recorded in Armenia through cash registers. Over this time, 2,034,651 receipts were issued. Compared to 2023, the trade value increased by 4.7%, and the number of receipts by 11%. When compared to 2022, the trade value rose by 19.8%, and the number of receipts by 19.5%.

Globally, Black Friday shoppers spent a record-breaking $10.8 billion, primarily on online purchases. This figure is 10% higher than last year and more than double the 2017 amount, according to NPR. Notably, 69% of Black Friday transactions were made using mobile devices, a 1% increase from the previous year. In Armenia, online purchases also occurred, though no specific data has been published.

Analysts believe that consumers are more willing to visit stores offering significant discounts. Locations with price reductions of at least 40% reported higher foot traffic.
