German Company to Provide Master Plan Design Services for Academic City
On January 23, the Armenian government approved two draft decisions on organizing procurement processes under the single-source procurement procedure. The first project proposes acquiring the services for the design and coordination of the master plan for the Academic City from GMP International GmbH Architects and Engineers.
The rationale for delegating the design work to this company is its extensive experience and reputation in the field of architectural design.
The second project involves purchasing services for preparing the package required for the approval of the Academic City master plan from NST Architecture Studio LLC. The decision was based on the fact that their price proposal was lower compared to other offers.
The company has previously carried out zoning and master planning work for the Kumayri historical district in Gyumri, zoning and master planning for the Getapnya district in Dilijan, and design projects for the United World College in Dilijan, as well as the Khoren and Shushanik Avetisyan School and community center.
Payments for these services will be made from the 2025 state budget allocated for the development of Academic City.
The planned area for the construction of Academic City spans 700 hectares, adjacent to Yerevan’s 17th district. The city will house 8 consolidated public and 8 private universities. Approximately 44,000 people are expected to work and live in Academic City. The area will also feature a National Stadium with a seating capacity of 35,000. Additionally, a railway connection will link Academic City to Yerevan.
The design phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2025, with construction projected to be finalized by 2030.
