
A New Commemorative Coin Has Been Issued
On December 2, 2024, the Central Bank of Armenia issued a silver commemorative coin marking the 100th anniversary of Gohar Gasparyan’s birth. The obverse features Gohar Gasparyan in one of her iconic stage roles, set against the backdrop of the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, the reverse displays her portrait.
The coin is made of 925 sterling silver. Weighs 33.6 grams. It has a limited mintage of 300 pieces.
Gohar Gasparyan made significant contributions to the development of Armenian opera. She often referred to as the “Nightingale of Armenia.” She performed over 4,000 concerts worldwide. Her repertoire included more than 500 works.
In 2024, the Central Bank issued a total of 12 commemorative coins.
