Arsen Torosyan Appointed Chair of the Standing Committee on Health Issues

The Civil Contract faction nominated Arsen Torosyan as a candidate for the position of Chair of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Health Issues.

During the January 22 session, Chair of the Counting Commission Narek Babayan announced that Arsen Torosyan was elected with 64 votes in favor. Out of 107 MPs, 65 participated in the voting.

Arsen Torosyan previously served as Minister of Health in 2018.

It should be noted that the position of Chair of the Standing Committee on Health Issues had been vacant since November 19, 2024. The position was previously held by Narek Zeynalyan.

The committee is responsible for discussing legislative matters related to the healthcare sector, developing and overseeing programs and laws aimed at protecting and improving public health, and ensuring their implementation. The committee also addresses issues concerning the financing of the healthcare system, accessibility and improvement of services, public health policy, and other related areas.
