Armenian Government Approves €45.3 Million ADB Loan for Healthcare Programs

At its January 23 session, the Armenian government approved a €45.3 million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to implement healthcare programs in the country.

Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan stated that the funds would be directed toward the construction and improvement of healthcare facilities, the digitalization and institutionalization of quality assessment and accountability in healthcare services, the licensing of medical institutions, the development of human capital in the healthcare sector, the implementation of a pilot telemedicine program, and the enhancement of electronic healthcare tools.

Avanesyan also emphasized that alongside securing financial resources, the technical assistance provided within the framework of the program is of significant importance.

Avanesyan further addressed the topic of digitalization, noting that the ministry plans to conduct online data collection and monitoring. Based on the collected data, they will assess whether the quality targets set by the ministry have been achieved.
