Vanik Ohanyan nominated as Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Health Care: who Is he?
The “Civil Contract” faction of the National Assembly has nominated MP Vanik Ohanyan for the position of Chair of the Standing Committee on Health Care. This was announced by the President of the NA, Alen Simonyan.
Vanik Ohanyan is 44 years old. He was born in Vanadzor and graduated from the Faculty of Stomatology of the Yerevan State Medical University.
Previously, Ohanyan worked in municipal and medical structures in Vanadzor; he managed polyclinics, taught at the university, and founded his own dental clinic.
Notably, in 2021, he served as the acting head of the Vanadzor community. In the same year, he was also a member of the Council of Elders of the “Civil Contract” faction of the Vanadzor enlarged community.
On September 3, 2025, he was elected as an MP of the National Assembly through the national proportional list of the “Civil Contract” party. He is also a member of the Committee on Health Care.
It should be noted that the position of the Chair of the Committee on Health Care had remained vacant for about a month following the resignation of Hripsime Hunanyan. Ohanyan’s candidacy will be presented to the Parliament for discussion and confirmation.
