The consumption of tobacco continues to be a problem in Armenia
The high level of tobacco consumption continues to be a serious problem in Armenia, although certain anti-tobacco reforms have been implemented in this area in recent years. During the discussion of the 2025 State Budget, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan expressed her concerns about this issue.
Unfortunately, Armenia still remains a leader in smoking. In our country, 52 percent of men smoke. This is a very poor statistic.
In recent years, legal reforms have been made in Armenia regarding tobacco consumption. According to the new regulations, smoking is prohibited in public and enclosed spaces. There are also certain restrictions related to advertising.
Anahit Avanesyan also mentioned that a psychological support program has been created to help citizens quit smoking. In addition, pharmacological substitutes are used to help overcome tobacco addiction. The main aim of these measures is to reduce tobacco consumption.
