Khachik Galstyan to remain in custody
Khachik Galstyan, the Secretary General of the “Hairenik” (Fatherland) Party, will remain in custody. This was announced by lawyer Arsen Babayan, noting that the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the court of first instance.
Khachik Galstyan was detained on the night of December 29-30. According to the Anti-Corruption Committee, the arrest is related to a case of electoral bribery during the November 16 municipal council elections in Vagharshapat. Eight individuals have been detained in connection with the same case, including the former Deputy Governor of Armavir. Among the detainees, one has been remanded in custody, while house arrest has been applied in three cases.
On February 4, Khachik Galstyan sent a message from the penitentiary institution, calling on the opposition to cooperate with each other.
