Head of department at Abovyan CNCO accused of receiving bribe

The preliminary investigation of criminal proceedings examined by the Anti-Corruption Committee has revealed that an individual who held the position of head of the relevant department at the “Abovyan Community Communal Economy” Community Non-Commercial Organization (CNCO) of the Kotayk Province received a bribe for performing an illegal action in favor of a convict.

Specifically, it was established that an individual sentenced to 80 hours of community service by the verdict of the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of the Kotayk Province was referred to the CNCO in May 2025 to serve the sentence.

The responsibility for supervising the performance of community service by the individual was assigned to the aforementioned head of the department.

However, the official performed an illegal action in favor of the convict: in exchange for presenting the set tasks as completed to the competent authorities without them actually being carried out, the official demanded and, through another citizen, received a bribe during May-June 2025.

As a result, the convict did not visit the assigned site and did not perform community service; however, a certificate regarding the actual serving of the punishment was compiled in their name and sent to the relevant authorities.
