Lydian Armenia files lawsuit against Nazeli Vardanyan
Lydian Armenia, the company operating the Amulsar mine, has filed a lawsuit against Nazeli Vardanyan, the lawyer involved in the Amulsar case, demanding a retraction of defamatory statements.
According to a statement released by the company, the lawsuit pertains to an interview published on a news website on January 20, during which several claims made by Vardanyan allegedly did not correspond to reality.
The company asserts that these statements are intended to tarnish its business reputation and discredit the Amulsar project. At the same time, it is noted that, given the economic significance of the project for the development of Armenia and adjacent communities, such claims could also harm the interests of citizens.
The company recalled that back in 2020, the court had granted another lawsuit filed by the company against Nazeli Vardanyan for the retraction of defamation. In that case, the court concluded that Vardanyan’s statements lacked a factual basis, were defamatory in nature, and caused significant damage to the company’s business reputation.
Compensation of 6 million AMD is also being demanded from the lawyer.
