Assets to be confiscated from Valeriy Osipyan
The Anti-Corruption Court has admitted into proceedings another lawsuit from the RA Prosecutor General’s Office concerning the confiscation of property of illicit origin.
The Department for Confiscation of Assets of Illicit Origin of the Prosecutor General’s Office has submitted a claim to the court to confiscate from the former RA Chief of Police Valeriy Osipyan and an affiliated person, in favor of the Republic of Armenia: 3 real estate properties located in Yerevan (2 of which are in the Kentron administrative district) with a combined cadastral value approximated to market price of 125 million 580 thousand AMD; 1 movable property; 48 million AMD as a balance of illicit funds; and 8 million AMD which is not justified by the person’s legal income and is considered to be of illicit origin or is impossible to identify.
It should be recalled that Osipyan has been charged in the March 1 case; along with several other officials, he exceeded the scope of his powers and dispersed the sit-in strike through violence and the use of illegal special means, forcing hundreds of protesters to leave their tents.
