Hundreds of cases of crimes against and by juveniles investigated

In 2025, the Investigative Committee investigated a total of 1,529 criminal proceedings regarding crimes committed against juveniles. Of these, 483 were carried over from the previous year, 2024. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

Out of the 1,529 criminal proceedings investigated during the reporting period, 135 involving 145 individuals were sent to court with an indictment. Another proceeding was completed with a final act and also sent to court. Simultaneously, 670 criminal proceedings were terminated, of which 572 were on rehabilitative grounds and 98 on non-rehabilitative grounds.

Furthermore, 72 proceedings were joined to other cases, 28 were sent to the jurisdiction of other bodies, and 78 were recorded as having completed procedural and evidentiary actions. Additionally, 545 criminal proceedings were carried over to 2026 for further investigation.

The cases sent to court involve various types of serious and especially serious crimes. Specifically, 4 cases pertain to murder, 1 to infanticide by a mother, 7 to causing grievous bodily harm, 2 to causing bodily harm of medium severity, and 3 to causing light bodily harm. Cases of kidnapping, mental and physical influence, as well as crimes against sexual freedom, were also recorded.

A total of 157 juvenile victims were recorded in the proceedings sent to court. Of them, 49 were under 12 years old, 47 were aged 13-14, 42 were aged 15-16, and 19 were aged 17-18.

At the same time, the Investigative Committee reports that during 2025, 464 criminal proceedings regarding crimes committed by juveniles were also investigated, of which 158 were carried over from 2024.

During the reporting period, out of 464 criminal proceedings, 80 involving 92 juveniles were sent to court with an indictment, and another was completed with a final act and sent to court. 177 criminal proceedings were terminated, of which 119 were on rehabilitative grounds and 58 on non-rehabilitative grounds. Additionally, 5 criminal proceedings were sent to other bodies, 35 were joined to other cases, 30 were recorded as having completed procedural and evidentiary actions, and 136 were carried over to 2026.

Of the 78 criminal proceedings sent to court, 5 pertain to murder, 1 to preparation for murder, 2 to attempted murder, and 11 to causing grievous bodily harm. Among the mentioned cases, there are also crimes against sexual freedom, robbery, theft, extortion, hooliganism, as well as crimes related to the illicit trafficking of weapons, ammunition, and drugs.

In 2025, 62 petitions were submitted within the framework of criminal proceedings investigated regarding crimes committed by juveniles.
