Citizen Commits Trade Using Counterfeit Banknotes
According to the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, several cases of counterfeiting have been uncovered in the Gegharkunik province.
The police received the first alarm on December 13, according to which a counterfeit banknote with a nominal value of 50,000 AMD was given to a salesperson at a pharmacy located on Myasnikyan Street in the town of Martuni.
It was established that on the same day, a woman purchased goods worth 11,800 AMD from the pharmacy, paying with a counterfeit 50,000 AMD banknote, and received 38,200 AMD in change. The investigation also revealed that on the same day, she conducted trade with a counterfeit banknote at another pharmacy located on Proshyan Street in Martuni, once again paying with a counterfeit banknote with a nominal value of 50,000 AMD and receiving 32,000 AMD in change.
On December 15, a 37-year-old resident of the town of Abovyan was located and brought to the Martuni department. The police also established that the individual had paid with counterfeit banknotes at two other pharmacies in the Vardenik settlement of the Gegharkunik province as well.
Within the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings, the 37-year-old woman was arrested and presented to the preliminary investigation body along with the compiled documents.
