US Ambassador Kristina Kvien to leave Armenia in january
The US Ambassador to Armenia, Kristina Kvien, will conclude her three-year mission in the country. According to official information from the Embassy, she will depart in mid-January. The US Embassy in Yerevan shared this information in response to a media inquiry. It is noted that the Ambassador’s departure is a routine rotation and does not signify a change in the United States’ stance toward Armenia.
The Embassy’s message emphasizes that the United States will remain a reliable partner for Armenia, with expectations for the further development of strategic cooperation. The message specifically addressed the trilateral agreement signed in Washington, noting that its implementation remains a key priority for the US.
Kristina Kvien’s departure is part of broader changes within the US Foreign Service. The US Department of State had announced her departure, stating that in January 2026, ambassadors and high-ranking diplomats in approximately 30 different countries would conclude their missions. US Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien is included in this list.
The routine rotation of the Ambassador will not affect the fundamental direction of relations between the two countries. The US Embassy in Yerevan will continue its work toward peace, economic development, and bilateral cooperation.
Information regarding a new candidate to fill Kristina Kvien’s position will be published at a later date.
