Suren Papikyan spoke in the United States about the development of military uniforms

On December 4, Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan met in the United States with Bruce LaFlamme, Vice President of the American company “Milliken,” which specializes in the design and development of military uniforms, as well as with Scott Grupp and Tommy Yang, the company’s leaders for military and international programs.

During the meeting, issues related to cooperation in the development of new uniforms for the Armenian Armed Forces were discussed, particularly regarding the types of uniforms, the development process, the timelines for supplying prototypes, and other aspects of the project’s implementation.

The last time the uniform of the Armenian Armed Forces was changed was about 10 years ago. At the beginning of 2024, it was announced that the Armenian army would have a new uniform by the end of 2024. Following this, the process of purchasing design services began, and preferred uniform options were selected. The shoulder straps, sleeve insignias, chest badges, footwear, and other items were also supposed to undergo changes. However, this process has been delayed.

In January of this year, the Ministry of Defense announced that the selection of the new uniform would be guided by NATO standards. Accordingly, the military uniform should be made from durable materials, suitable for camouflage and mobility, fire-resistant, and so on.
