Hovik Aghazaryan has been expelled from the “Civil Contract” party
Hovik Aghazaryan, a member of the “Civil Contract” party, has been expelled from the party. This was announced by the press service of the “Civil Contract” party.
On December 3, a meeting of the Board of the “Civil Contract” party took place. Which was chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The statement regarding Aghazaryan’s expulsion mentioned that “By the decision of the Board, Hovik Aghazaryan has been expelled from the ‘Civil Contract’ party due to leaks of confidential information of state and party significance, as well as gross violations of public moral norms.”
Discussions about Aghazaryan’s expulsion from the party began on October 15, following a session of the National Assembly when Aghazaryan made a remark to the former head of the Investigative Committee, Argishti Kyaramyan. The latter wanted to know why he had been approached at least twice regarding a criminal case involving Aghazaryan’s son.
On October 28, a criminal case was initiated based on Kyaramyan’s statements. By November 22, during an interview, Nikol Pashinyan revealed that he had asked Narek Zeynalyan and Hovik Aghazaryan to resign from their parliamentary mandates. Zeynalyan complied with the Prime Minister’s request, while Aghazaryan refused.
The MP stated that he would not give up his mandate, describing it as the most difficult decision of his life.
