Armenia does not recognize Kosovo’s independence, but it recognizes Kosovo’s passports
Armenia has officially recognized Kosovo’s passports. In addition to passports, Armenia has also recognized Kosovo’s civic, diplomatic, and service passports. This was announced on X by Kosovo’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Kreshnik Ahmeti.
However, Armenia has not yet recognized Kosovo’s independence. Despite this, there is ongoing dialogue between the two sides at various levels and platforms. In particular, regular meetings between the foreign ministers take place at the UN General Assembly and other forums.
Kosovo is a partially recognized state in Southeastern Europe, located in the Balkan Peninsula in the Kosovo geographical region.
According to the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, Kosovo is part of Serbia and is included as the autonomous province of Kosovo and Metohija. However, Kosovo is not under the control of the Serbian government. The northern part of Kosovo, which is primarily inhabited by Serbs, does not fall under the authority of Pristina.
On February 17, 2008, Kosovo declared its independence unilaterally and later adopted the country’s constitution. It came into effect on June 15, 2008.
