The EAEU Summit Kicks Off

On December 26, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit began in Saint Petersburg. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan participated via video link. Russian media had previously announced about this. However, unlike this summit, Pashinyan did not participate in the informal CIS leaders’ summit held on December 25.

Our Armenian partners are not participating in the CSTO format; they have suspended their participation. Nevertheless, Armenia remains a very important participant in both the EAEU and the CIS. Both Armenia and the Armenian people gain significant dividends from this participation. Thus, this cooperation is of interest to both the CIS and our Armenian friends, – stated Peskov.

During his speech, Pashinyan emphasized the importance of regional economic integration and reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to actively engaging in EAEU programs. He highlighted priorities such as the development of joint potential, the advancement of digital technologies, and the unification of the IT community to introduce innovative solutions within the EAEU.

Armenia’s chairmanship of the EAEU will conclude in 2025.

It is noteworthy that Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan represented Armenia at today’s Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting.
