All Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan are in the same conditions: Artak Beglaryan

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan has announced that the criminal case against the former military-political leaders of Artsakh has been sent to the Baku military court, and Armenia has been offered to cooperate within the framework of the criminal case. However, as noted by the former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Artak Beglaryan, this offer is yet another trap, which could later become a topic for negotiations and serve as an additional political lever for Armenia and the Armenian people.

In Beglaryan’s opinion, the Azerbaijani side is trying to place Armenia in a position where it would be the rejecting party, and the international community would view Armenia as being allegedly unconstructive on this issue.

Addressing the issue of prisoners’ detention, Artak Beglaryan mentioned that although Ruben Vardanyan’s legal office is active, all the Armenian prisoners are in the same situation and are being held under the same conditions.

It is worth mentioning that the accusatory conclusions against 8 former officials of Artsakh and 7 other Armenians were recently sent to the Baku military court. They have been charged with serious offenses, including genocide, terrorism, organizing the forced displacement of civilians, and several other articles. All the information is in Azerbaijani, and there is no opportunity for translation. It was recently revealed that Ruben Vardanyan is facing life imprisonment.
