A minimum of 270 electoral votes is required to win.
After the November 5 election, Trump secured 312 electoral votes, surpassing the 270 needed, with a total of 77.3 million votes. As Reuters notes, Republicans also gained the majority in the Senate and hold a narrow majority in the House of Representatives, which will provide Trump with the party support necessary to implement his planned agenda, including tax cuts and curbing illegal immigration.
