The American Side Announces Preparations for a Trump-Putin Meeting

On January 10, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announced that a meeting is being organized between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The new U.S. leader did not specify when the meeting might take place.

Speaking at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Trump stated that he is eager to meet and that the American side is organizing the event. In response to the proposal for a meeting, the Russian President, during a live broadcast combined with a press conference, declared that he is ready for a conversation and a meeting with Trump, adding that if the meeting takes place, there will be plenty for the two presidents to discuss.

Trump has promised to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine immediately after taking office on January 20 and expressed skepticism about U.S. military and financial aid to Kyiv. In this context, Trump noted the need to end the war, which he described as creating a bloody mess in the world.

The spokesperson for Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Friday that Kyiv expects high-level negotiations with the Trump administration after his inauguration.

On January 12, Trump’s National Security Advisor Mike Waltz announced that preparatory tasks for the meeting are underway.
